The solar-PV system of Time Energy Sdn Bhd.
We’re part of the Time Group, established in telecommunications for nearly 30 years. Our aim is to make your shift to solar simple and pocket-friendly. With our extensive background, we bring tech expertise and high-performance standards to the solar sector.
Solar systems typically last about 25 years, so it’s important to pick a provider that stays the course. As part of the Time Group, you can count on us to be there for you well into the future.
As part of a listed company, we offer the stability and longevity that many solar companies lack. With licenses from key authorities like Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), we have already completed over 300 installations. Additionally, our Savings Guarantee ensures that you save at least 100% of what you pay us on your TNB bills, providing further confidence in our services.
Solar panels (also known as PV or photovoltaic cells) capture sunlight and with an inverter, convert it into electricity that we can all use.
Under the government’s Net Energy Metering (NEM) programme, solar systems are linked to the TNB power grid. They export excess solar electricity to TNB and draw from it when needed. The grid effectively serves as storage, so a battery isn’t essential.
Solar panels can be installed on most roof types (excluding shingle and asbestos), as long as the roof is in good condition and properly angled to receive sufficient direct sunlight.
Yes, as long as there is sufficient space on your roof.
It still works using available sunlight, but expect a slightly reduced output.
Solar panels don’t work at night because they need sunlight to generate electricity.
No, your solar system will shut down during a TNB outage to safeguard TNB technicians working on repairs. It will automatically resume once TNB power is restored.
It’s clean, renewable, not generated by fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) and doesn’t emit any harmful pollutants.
You need approvals from authorities like SEDA and TNB to secure your Net Energy Metering (NEM) benefits. We’ll explain everything during our site visit and take care of all applications and approvals for you.
Solar panels are similar to other electrical appliances in your home, like refrigerators and air conditioners, in terms of safety.
Solar panels are free from harmful radiation. The electric field radiation from inverters is minimal, similar to that of a fluorescent light tube.
Not when designed and installed correctly. Our solar system designs exceed industry standards and local regulations, ensuring utmost protection with earthing, circuit breakers and surge protection for both panels and inverters. All our installers are licensed by the respective authoritative bodies, ensuring professional and safe installations.
Yes. We install panels on a mounting structure to ensure no direct contact or damage. As a bonus, they can help cool down your roof.
Yes, most roofs can. To ensure safety, we consult with you and conduct a physical inspection to check for issues like termite damage and water leaks before installation.
If it needs repairs, it’s best to sort that out before the panels go up. If not, we’re good to go.
Here’s a simple explanation:
Under NEM, excess energy is sent to TNB, essentially selling back at the rate you pay. This results in a ‘net’ amount in your monthly TNB bill.
Yes, if you’re a registered TNB consumer in Peninsular Malaysia with your name on both the property title and the bill.
NEM has a limited quota, so it’s a good idea to secure your share early and not miss out on the benefits.
Yes, you are eligible for the cash rebate of up to RM4,000 through the Solar for Rakyat Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS). The rebate will be paid directly into your bank account by TNB, subject to the terms and conditions of the SolaRIS programme. Please note that SolaRIS is managed entirely by TNB.

Our standard contract is 10 years.
You’ll have the option to purchase the system by paying an additional one-month fee.
We will remove it from your home.
You can progressively buy out the system by making extra payments over 5 or 7 years. All purchase options and their associated costs will be detailed in our proposal.
We will visit your home to understand your electricity needs and assess your roof. We’ll then propose an optimal system size for your home. Do note that our system sizes range from 4kWp (our minimum) and 16kWp (limit set under NEM).
We will propose a system size that is optimised for savings and energy generation. However, you are free to choose differently, and we will customise a configuration accordingly.
Yes. As long as you own a landed home in the Klang Valley, with your name on both the property title and TNB bill. Malaysians can sign up without paying a deposit.
No, but for optimal savings, a TNB bill of RM350 and above is ideal.
We guarantee that the solar system will always operate at its best, ensuring consistent and reliable savings on your TNB bills.
We provide the following for the entire duration of your contract at no extra cost:
Each system size includes a guaranteed TNB bill savings amount tied to a minimum electricity usage requirement. If your usage meets the threshold but your annual TNB bill savings fall short, we’ll credit the difference to your future bills from us.
We guarantee minimum TNB bills savings equivalent to 100% of what you pay us for the system annually, so it’s effectively free.
Beyond the guaranteed savings, you can expect to save 10-20% annually compared to your pre-solar TNB bill. Here’s an example to illustrate your potential savings:
Our Savings Guarantee excludes potential savings on ICPT, KWTBB and SST. You can save on these charges, but they depend on how much solar electricity you use and how much you export. Using more solar electricity directly during peak solar hours increases these savings, as this means using less from TNB.
We do this through an annual assessment, by totaling your monthly savings from solar electricity.
We’ll provide the annual assessment report within a month of each calendar year’s end.
The Savings Guarantee might be suspended, modified or voided under certain circumstances, including:
If your usage falls below the required threshold in any month, the month(s) will be excluded from our annual Savings Guarantee calculations.
Short-term weather changes might affect power generation, but the Savings Guarantee accounts for yearly performance, balancing out these variations.
The guarantee ends with your contract. However, you may still save on electricity, especially if renewable energy incentives like NEM still apply.
If you terminate the contract or buy out the system, the Savings Guarantee will no longer be applicable. Any previously entitled savings will not be retained.
4 to 8 weeks, including obtaining the necessary approvals from SEDA and TNB, which we will take care of for you.
It’s generally a 3-step process:
We mount the solar panels on your roof using industry-standards methods. We place the inverter as close as possible to the distribution box and ensure proper wiring connections between the panels, inverter and distribution box. The entire process generally takes up to 8 hours, subject to site and weather conditions.
We do not conceal cables within walls. However, all cables are neatly organised and housed in trunking.
Only Tier-1 solar PV modules and globally-certified inverters. The specifics for your home are determined after we conclude our site visit.
Our Emit Solar warranty covers all parts, materials, labour and transportation for any necessary repairs and replacements. Please note, however, that damages due to mishandling, unauthorised installations, or unauthorised modifications are not covered.
The solar panels come with a 25-year warranty. After your contract concludes and you opt to own the system, we transfer any remaining warranties over to you.
We provide a workmanship warranty to cover any damages caused by installation.
Periodic inspections and cleaning to ensure they’re in tip-top health. Dirt does reduce the power production of the panels.
Yes, we’ll periodically set up maintenance and health checks, a service that may cost over RM500/year elsewhere. And our monitoring centre keeps an eye on the system 24/7/365 to identify and rectify issues quickly.
You can engage us for maintenance services, such as panel cleaning and checking and fixing wiring connections. These services currently cost approximately RM750 per year. Please note that rates may change over time, considering maintenance payments may only be required years in the future, after your contract concludes.
Yes, all our inverters come with a monitoring app, allowing you to track the system’s performance. Rest assured, we’re also keeping a close watch, so if any issues arise, we’ll address them promptly.
You can reach us at 1800-18-3006 24/7/365 for any support or enquiries.
We do not offer the option to upgrade or downgrade the solar system during the contract period. This helps maintain the optimal performance and reliability of the system.
The panels can give your property’s value a boost. And relocating them can be tricky on the safety and performance fronts. If you’re still set on moving the system with you, we’re with you every step of the way, but do be aware that a relocation fee applies.
Pass them on to the new owner. If it works out, let us know because we’d need to update the contract.
We’ll go by the contract exit terms outlined in the next query.
If you decide to end your contract:
You will receive two bills monthly:
Your contract commences on the date your system is commissioned (power on).
Straight to your inbox via the email address you provided to us.
Your bills are due 30 days from the date of issuance. Please note that we issue bills monthly and in advance.
Payments are automatically deducted via Auto-Debit or Direct Debit from your designated credit card or bank account on the due date.
